... if a month old is still considered new lol! Let me just tell you a little story about my hair.
Before I start, I just want to make it clear that I was not and am not getting paid to write about my experience.
I used to really like my super long hair
It was after my graduation pictures photoshoot, hence the formal attire.
but it was taking too much effort to style/maintain so I decided to keep the length but 'superlayer' it. While it did felt extremely light and easy to manage, overtime, the style and cut looked very choppy and just... bad. I had very short layers as well as very ridiculously long layers so a lot of people actually have told me they thought I was wearing extensions :( What's the point of having such long hair when people don't think it's real right? I regularly blowdry and straighten my hair and the fact that some layers were so long, the ends were very damaged, frizzy and infested with split ends. Plus, the double tones (regrowths and past hair colouring) just made it worse. Overall, it's bad style, colour and condition all in one.
After getting a makeup makeover during the Pantene Bloggers Party
I discovered this hair salon (Hair Atelier at Jaya One) through the Pantene Bloggers Party and I'm so glad the hairstylist knew exactly what looks best on me. During the party when he saw my fugly hair he chatted with me and told me he's very tempted to chop off my long layer of hair because it's THAT bad looking lol. A few of the hair stylists there including himself told me they thought I was wearing extensions :( During the event the hairstylists were supposed to only wash, blowdry and style but he decided to go against the instruction and chopped a good 4 inches off my hair (only the longest layer) because 1. he couldn't stand it anymore wtf. 2. I allowed him. I wasn't charged of course because it wasn't even a proper haircut, but he just had to do something lol.
About 2 weeks after that I went back to the salon, to the same hairstylist of course to get a proper haircut and some colouring job done.
Sorry I dunno why the picture so blur here :/
The Haircut
I had sort of a blunt cut all over so everything's pretty much one length now. I still have layers but it's not as crazy as before. I love it! A good 6-10 inches was snipped off and the ends are now not as frizzy and full of split ends as before. Overall, it looks fuller and more healthy! I plan to grow it out again :)
Also, I asked for bangs because without bangs I look old. Well you can say 'sexy' if I have on makeup but without, it's just old. I didn't want the straight and short type because it accentuates my BIG, chubby face lol so he suggested and did side-swept bangs and I really do like it :)
The Hair Colour
He used 2 different colours. For the lower ends (which was a lot lighter due to previous colouring/bleaching), he used a slightly darker shade but for the top half he used the shade I wanted - a mahogany-ish brown. He told me he had to use 2 colours my ends are lighter so when the darker colour fades, it'll be the same as the top part of my hair. The finished result doesn't look too obvious under fluorescent lighting but you can definitely see the red tones under natural lighting. I absolutely love how my ends are completely covered with the new colour. Usually the colour fades quicker at the ends due to my previous bleaching jobs. I definitely can see that the colour is slowly fading but it's still uniform with the top, which is exactly like what he was saying.

The whole process took 5 hours and eventhough I'm used to this, it can never hurt to have a friend around going through it together can it? Connie was there getting her hair done too :) Click on her name to read about her experience.
Overall, I love it. And I won't tell you the name of the stylist because he's mine.

Ok I'm joking. He's Tom so if you ever want to drop by Hair Atelier, try Tom. I like his service and expertise and I hope you will too :) I don't have a picture of him but you can hop on over to So Loverly to see and also read about Kahani's experience as well.
I seriously cannot remember how much I paid for all that. I THINK... hair cut was around RM 50? or RM 60? and hair colouring about RM 150-200 for my length and RM 100+ for treatment. Pretty reasonable I'd say. It's not cheap but I enjoyed the process and service and I love the results so I'll definitely go back :)
I hope this post has been helpful. In what way? I don't know haha. If your hair has the same problem as mine before this, you might want to try this style? Just a suggestion :)
